Bible Dedication
The world’s best-known verse wraps Christmas and the Gospel into a single sentence. Here, read it for
yourself:
Did you appreciate the depth of God’s revelation in John 3:16? Probably not. God’s Word is meaningless to us if we do not understand its language.
During eight days at the end of November, five UIMA pilots flying three separate aircraft logged 37 flight legs for a single endeavor. On just one of those days, they lifted a total of 35 people out of a mountain village. What prompted such an extensive endeavor?
Forty years ago, a missionary work started in BG. Numerous missionary families have made that village their home over the decades, learning the language, developing a system of writing, educating local people to read and write, teaching the Bible, and working on its translation. UIMA has been supporting that ministry with the airplane from the very early years. Our airplanes have carried countless missionaries, supplies, missionary kids to and from school, medical patients, translation consultants, and other visitors to and from BG.
Last month, after 40 years of work, there was a dedication service of the completed New Testament and portions of the Old Testament! These Scriptures were presented to the community in a grand event, with hundreds of copies being given to the indigenous people. Local government officials in attendance attested to the positive impact the ministry has had in the community. It was for that special event that we flew at the end of November. The many visitors from far and near, including from other indigenous Mexican groups, showed the small church that they are part of a big family of believers - a family that is excited to see them finally hold in their hands God’s Word in their own language. This Christmas they can read the story again and again for themselves! Join us in praying that those in BG who do not yet know of the Savior’s coming will respond to the Word of God. Praise God with us that this message finally available to them in their own language!
